Archangel Michael celebration, Mantamados, Lesvos, Portraits

...Even as the muscles of the sacrificed still have movement in them, the animal is cut into pieces and put into big pans. Some goats and sheep are also sacrificed. Half of the meat will be cooked with wheat (and the other half with peas) all night. In the morning it will come out as a cream, named Keskets. Then it is served to the people that await it as a blessing. There is one man, every year who takes the obligation but has it as a priviledge to pay for all this celebration (for the cost of the animals, for the people who work). He, his family and also a lot of other people, work non-stop for at least 24 hours, to get this celebration right. These are the portraits of most of them and also some portraits of pilgrims.
