24 Μαυ 2008, Tibetan Olympics Swimming Games Day

I believe this was the day with the most spectators yet. And as it was so many people in a small place like Funky Town-a fun park swimming pool in lower Dharamsala, much smaller than the Olympic measures- it created a vibrant energy. Multi coloured baloons were on the water marking the lanes, the photographers were up to the hip in the small children's pool in order to get a better shot, Indians, Europeans, Tibetan's and a lot of monks mingled around, a children's party atmosphere! For someone like me, who has watched these athletes practise swimming in the previous days, it was a surprise how well they performed the swimming races. Ofcourse the first places went to the more experienced ones, like Tenzin Choedon for women and Dawa Dakpa for men. But one of the things that i realise now, thinking back to the event, is that for some reason, the ones who won a game was coming second after the feelings that were coming out of whole event. Feelings of peace, solidarity, fraternity, working as a team, working for a cause...
